§ 87462 High School Employee Transfer

Key Takeaways

  • •If you work full-time for a high school that also runs a community college, and you teach there, you keep your job protections.
  • •If the high school joins a bigger community college system, you become a regular teacher in that new system.
  • •This only applies if you were already a permanent teacher at the high school’s community college before the change.

Example

A teacher works full-time at a high school that also has a small community college. Later, the high school’s community college merges with a bigger one.

The teacher doesn’t lose their job—they just become a regular teacher in the new, bigger community college system.
