§ 49200 Emergency Work Permit Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools can collect paperwork and signatures online if they're closed for a long time because of things like a big storm, sickness, or another emergency.
  • •Kids can't be stopped from getting a work permit just because their grades or attendance are bad if their school was closed for a long time because of an emergency.

Example

A high school is closed for two months because of a big earthquake. A student wants to get a work permit to help their family.

The school can't say no to the work permit just because the student's grades dropped or they missed a lot of school during the closure. The school can also ask for any needed papers or signatures online.
