§ 42282 Small School District Funding

Key Takeaways

  • •Small schools with fewer kids get extra money from the state to help them run.
  • •The amount of money depends on how many kids go to the school every day (not counting 7th and 8th graders).
  • •The school must have a certain number of full-time teachers to get the money.
  • •The more kids and teachers, the more money the school gets.

Example

A small school in a rural area has 30 kids (not counting 7th and 8th graders) and 2 full-time teachers.

Because the school has between 25 and 48 kids and at least 2 full-time teachers, it gets $460,500 from the state to help pay for things like teachers, books, and supplies.
