§ 49132 Minor Work Permit Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Kids need a parent or guardian with them to get a work permit.
  • •If school is closed because of a big problem (like a pandemic), kids can get the permit online with a video call instead.
  • •The kid and parent must still talk to the person giving the permit, even if it’s on a video call.

Example

A 16-year-old wants a job, but their school is closed because of a pandemic.

Normally, the teen and their parent would go in person to get the work permit. But since school is closed, they can do a video call with the person issuing the permit instead.
