§ 41607 School District Funding Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Elementary school districts and high school districts inside a unified school district are treated as separate for money calculations.
  • •Money from the State School Fund for these districts goes to the unified school district, not the individual districts.
  • •The unified school district can use this money for all its schools and classes.

Example

A town has a unified school district that includes an old high school district. The state gives money for schools.

The state calculates money for the old high school district separately, but the money goes to the unified school district. The unified school district can then use this money for any of its schools, not just the old high school.
