§ 35709 School District Territory Transfer

Key Takeaways

  • •A group can ask to move land from one school area to another.
  • •The land must be empty, or if people live there, it must be worth less than 10% of the school area's total value.
  • •Everyone involved must agree: the land owners and both school groups.

Example

A small empty field is next to School B but belongs to School A. The owner of the field and both schools want the field to be part of School B.

If the field is empty or worth very little, and everyone agrees, the county can approve moving the field to School B.
