§ 19483 Library District Property Taxation

Key Takeaways

  • •If a new library area is made after a county free library exists, the property there can still be taxed for the county free library.
  • •This rule doesn’t change how property taxes are split up under Section 19116.

Example

A town creates its own small library area, but the county already has a big free library.

Even though the town made its own library area, the people there still have to pay taxes to support the county’s big free library.
