§ 19481 Library District Naming

Key Takeaways

  • •Every library district must have a name that includes the name of the district and the county it's in.
  • •The district can use this name to go to court or own property.
  • •The name cannot include a number.

Example

A new library district is created in Orange County.

The district must be named something like 'Sunshine Library District of Orange County'. They can't call it 'Library District 1'. This name is used for legal stuff, like buying land for a new library.
