§ 18337 Library District Vote Threshold

Key Takeaways

  • •If more than 1/3 of the people voting say 'no' to a new library district, the plan stops.
  • •The people in charge have to wait a whole year before trying again.
  • •This rule is about making sure most people really want the library before it happens.

Example

A town votes on whether to create a new library district.

If 100 people vote and 35 of them say 'no,' the plan stops because 35 is more than 1/3 of 100. They can't try again for a year.
