§ 4175 Prescriber Drug Complaint Reporting

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone complains about a doctor, nurse, or other medical person giving out bad or dangerous medicine, the pharmacy board tells the right group that watches over that person.
  • •If the bad medicine really hurts someone, the group that watches over that medical person has to treat it like a big, serious problem.
  • •This is to make sure people who give out medicine are being safe and not hurting patients.

Example

A patient gets very sick because a doctor gave them the wrong medicine.

The pharmacy board will tell the Medical Board of California about the complaint. Since the patient got really hurt, the Medical Board will treat this as a very serious case to make sure the doctor is held responsible and doesn't do it again.
