§ 4039 Licensed Healthcare Professionals Defined

Key Takeaways

  • •Only people with a valid license can work as doctors, nurses, or other medical jobs in California.
  • •A 'physician' includes anyone with a valid doctor's license, even if they're not fully licensed but allowed to practice under special rules.
  • •If someone doesn't have a license or it's expired, they can't legally do these medical jobs.

Example

A person tries to work as a nurse but their license expired last year.

This person can't legally work as a nurse until they renew their license. If they do, they're breaking the law.
