§ 19072 Furniture And Bedding Compliance

Key Takeaways

  • •If you make, import, sell, or even just have furniture or bedding to sell, you must follow the rules in this law.
  • •It's not just the maker's job to follow the rules—everyone in the selling chain has to do it too.
  • •If you plan to resell furniture, bedding, or the stuffing inside them, you must make sure they meet the law’s safety rules.

Example

A store owner buys old couches to fix up and sell in their shop.

The store owner must check that the couches follow all the safety rules for furniture before selling them. If they don’t, the owner could get in trouble, even if they didn’t make the couches.
