§ 5706 Mental Health Contract Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •Counties and the state can make special deals for mental health services without following the usual rules for contracts.
  • •These special deals don’t need approval from the Department of General Services.
  • •The usual contract rules from the Public Contract Code and State Administrative Manual don’t apply here.

Example

A county wants to hire a company to provide mental health counseling for its residents.

Normally, the county would have to follow strict rules about how to pick the company and get approval from the state. But because of this law, they can make the deal faster and without all the usual steps.
