  • •The state council has 30 days to give their advice in writing.
  • •The advice is sent to the Director of Developmental Services and the regional center's board.
  • •The advice is just a suggestion—no one has to follow it.

Example

A regional center and the state department argue over whether to renew a contract for services.

If they can't agree, they can ask the state council to look at the problem and give their opinion. The council has 30 days to write down their advice and send it to both sides, but neither side has to do what the council says.
