§ 4143 Enhanced Treatment Program Pilots

Key Takeaways

  • •The state can create special treatment programs for certain patients starting July 1, 2015, if there's enough money.
  • •These programs give extra, proven therapy to help patients get better.
  • •Before starting a program, the state must share its plans with lawmakers 60 days ahead.
  • •The plans must include who can join, how many workers are needed, what help patients get, how they move out of the program, and what training workers need.

Example

Imagine a hospital wants to start a new program to help people with serious mental health issues using special therapy.

The hospital must tell the government its plans 60 days before starting. The plans must say who can join, how many doctors and nurses are needed, what kind of help patients will get, and how patients will leave the program when they are better.
