§ 17405 Property Reconveyance By Board

Key Takeaways

  • •If the county helped someone with money when they were very poor, they might have a claim on that person's property.
  • •The county can give back or remove that claim if the person pays back the money they owe.
  • •The county can also remove the claim if the person pays an amount equal to what the county would get if they sold the property.

Example

Imagine a person named John was very poor and the county gave him money to help. The county then had a claim on John's house.

If John wants to sell his house, he can pay back the money the county gave him. Then, the county will remove their claim on his house.
