§ 11374 Kin-Gap Payment Responsibility

This law says that the county where a child was under court supervision must keep paying for their care, even if the child moves to another county. It also explains when a child can switch from one type of financial help to another.

Key Takeaways

  • •The county that first had court supervision over a child must keep paying for their care, no matter where the child lives later.
  • •If a child is getting money from the ARC program and becomes eligible for Kin-GAP, they keep getting ARC money until the court says their case is over.
  • •Kin-GAP payments start the day after the court ends the child's case.

Example

A child in Los Angeles County was under court supervision and gets money from the Kin-GAP program. The child moves to San Diego County.

Los Angeles County must keep paying for the child's care, even though the child now lives in San Diego County.
