§ 9567 Land Conveyance Exceptions

Key Takeaways

  • •When you buy land, the paperwork (deed) says you own it, but there are a few exceptions.
  • •You still have to pay taxes to the state, county, and city.
  • •If there are special fees for things like drainage projects, you might have to pay those too.
  • •Other than those, the land should be yours with no other hidden costs or claims.

Example

You buy a piece of land to build a house.

The deed says you own the land, but you still have to pay property taxes to the city and state. If there was a fee for a drainage project nearby that wasn’t fully paid, you might have to cover the rest of that fee too.
