§ 9494 County Treasurer Collection Records

Key Takeaways

  • •The county treasurer must keep a list of all payments made, including the date.
  • •If something is sold because of unpaid taxes, the list must say 'sold' and the date it was sold.
  • •If the county buys something because of unpaid taxes, the list must say 'sold to the district' and the date.
  • •If someone pays back what they owe to get their property back, the list must say 'redeemed' and the date.

Example

Imagine you didn't pay your property taxes on time.

The county might sell your property to get the money you owe. If that happens, the county treasurer writes 'sold' on their list with the date. If you later pay what you owe to get your property back, they write 'redeemed' with the date you paid.
