§ 9465 Bond Sale Fund Allocation

Key Takeaways

  • •Money from selling bonds goes to the State Treasurer.
  • •Some money pays off the interest on the bonds right away.
  • •The rest of the money goes into a special fund for building stuff, like drainage projects.
  • •The money in the special fund can only be spent on the project it was meant for.

Example

A town sells bonds to raise money for building a new drainage system to prevent flooding.

When the bonds are sold, the money first pays off any interest that has built up. The rest of the money goes into a special fund called the 'Construction fund' and can only be used to build the drainage system.
