§ 6466 Dam Construction Approval Rules

• •You can start building a dam or reservoir before getting official approval, but you must apply for it first.
• •If the government tells you how to build it safely, you must follow those rules from then on.
• •You can keep building until you get either approval or new safety rules from the government.

A farmer starts building a small dam on their land to create a pond for their animals.

The farmer can start building the dam but must apply for approval. If the government later sends rules saying the dam needs stronger walls, the farmer must follow those rules for the rest of the building.
