§ 4226 Watermaster Budget Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The budget must cover old bills that haven't been paid yet.
  • •It must include money for a yearly report about water use.
  • •There should be extra money set aside for surprises or emergencies.
  • •The budget also pays for running the water service and delivering water.

Example

Imagine your town’s water department is making a budget for next year.

They have to include money to pay last year’s unpaid bills, like a broken pipe that wasn’t fixed yet. They also need to pay someone to write a report about how much water everyone used this year. Plus, they set aside some extra cash in case a big storm damages the water tanks. Finally, they add money for everyday stuff, like paying workers and fixing leaks.
