§ 4201 Water Service Cost Allocation

Key Takeaways

  • •People who use water from a service area must pay for the costs of managing and delivering that water.
  • •The money covers things like maintaining pipes, pumps, and other equipment needed to get water to users.
  • •Only the people who have the right to take or store water in that area have to pay these costs.

Example

A group of farmers in a rural area get their water from a shared irrigation system.

The farmers must pay for the costs of running and maintaining the irrigation system, like fixing broken pipes or paying workers who manage the water flow. If a farmer has the right to use the water, they have to help pay for these costs.
