§ 4125 Reservoir Water Measurement Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you own a big water storage (like a dam or reservoir) that uses a natural river or stream, you must put in tools to measure the water.
  • •These tools must be placed both above and below your reservoir so officials can check how much water you take, store, and use.
  • •The government decides what kind of measuring tools you need and approves them.
  • •This rule helps make sure everyone gets the right amount of water and no one takes too much.

Example

A farmer builds a dam on a river to store water for crops.

The farmer must install special tools to measure how much water flows into and out of the dam. This way, the government can check if the farmer is using the right amount of water and not taking more than allowed.
