§ 346 Water Project Land Acquisition

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can take private land for parks or fun places near big water projects (like dams or lakes).
  • •They can pay for this land using money meant for buying property or paths for water projects.
  • •They need permission from another government group (Department of General Services) to do this.

Example

Imagine the government builds a big lake for water. They want to make a park next to it but need your land to do it.

The government can take your land to build the park, even if you don’t want to sell. They’ll use money set aside for buying land for water projects.
