• •If you stop using the water for good things, you lose the right to use it.
• •The permission to use water doesn’t last forever—it only lasts as long as you use it the right way.

A farmer gets permission to use river water to grow crops.

If the farmer stops growing crops and leaves the water unused, the permission goes away. They can’t just keep the water rights if they’re not using it for something good.
