§ 1106 Immunity From Prosecution

This law says that if someone is given immunity, they can't be punished for crimes they admit to while testifying. But if they lie under oath, they can still be punished for that lie.

Key Takeaways

  • •If you get immunity, you can't be punished for crimes you admit to while testifying.
  • •You must tell the truth; lying under oath can still get you in trouble.
  • •Immunity only covers the crimes you talk about, not any new crimes.

Example

A person is forced to testify about a crime they committed.

If they tell the truth, they won't be punished for that crime. But if they lie while testifying, they can be punished for lying.
