§ 13555 Probation Dismissal And Driving Privileges

This law says that even if your criminal record is cleared or charges are dropped, your driving privileges can still be taken away if you were convicted before. It counts as a strike against your driving record.

Key Takeaways

  • •Clearing your criminal record doesn’t erase past driving convictions.
  • •Old convictions can still be used to suspend or take away your license.
  • •If you get in trouble again, the DMV can count old convictions against you.

Example

Imagine you got in trouble for drunk driving, went to court, and later got your record cleared.

Even though your record is clean now, the DMV can still punish you for that old conviction—like suspending your license if you get in trouble again.
