§ 95030 Santa Barbara Transit District

Key Takeaways

  • •This law says Santa Barbara and nearby areas (like Carpinteria, Summerland, Montecito, and Goleta) need one big bus or transit system together.
  • •The reason is that people travel between these places a lot, so it’s better to have one system instead of many small ones.
  • •It’s about making sure everyone can get around easily and safely in this area.

Example

Imagine you live in Goleta and work in Santa Barbara. Right now, you might have to take two different buses to get to work, which is a hassle.

This law says there should be one bus system for the whole area so you can take just one bus straight to work. It makes things simpler and helps everyone get where they need to go.

§ 95030 Santa Barbara Transit District

It is necessary that a transit district be established in the Santa Barbara metropolitan area which includes the City of Santa Barbara and adjacent territory, including but not limited to the Carpinteria, Summerland, Montecito and Goleta areas, all situated in Santa Barbara County, in order to meet the public transit problem of the area. The geographic location of the city in relation to the adjacent territory requiring transportation services makes it necessary to develop a single transit system to protect the public interest and welfare. (Amended by Stats. 1967, Ch. 595.)
