§ 40611 Consolidation Election Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •If most people vote 'yes' on a consolidation plan, it passes.
  • •The plan and all its rules become official if more than half the votes are 'yes'.
  • •The vote count decides if the consolidation happens.

Example

A small town votes on whether to merge with a nearby town to share schools and services.

If more than half the voters say 'yes,' the towns will officially combine, and all the agreed-upon rules for sharing schools and services will take effect.
