§ 30752 Public Utility Employee Transfers

Key Takeaways

  • •If the district buys a public utility (like a water or power company), they must hire the workers who have been there for at least 75 days.
  • •These workers get the same job, sick leave, and vacation time they had before.
  • •The district doesn’t have to test these workers—they just get the job.
  • •Only the bosses or supervisors the district picks get this deal.

Example

The city buys a local water company.

All the workers who have been at the water company for more than 75 days must be given jobs by the city. They keep their old sick days and vacation time. The city doesn’t make them take a test—they just start working for the city instead.
