§ 26453 Annexation Election Ballot Instructions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about how ballots should look for a vote on whether a city should join a transit district.
  • •The ballot must include clear instructions, just like in regular elections.
  • •The ballot must ask a simple yes or no question about joining the transit district, including the date of the agreement.
  • •The agreement details must be available in the city clerk's office for people to see.

Example

Imagine your town is voting on whether to join a bigger bus and train system.

The ballot you get will have a clear question like, 'Should our town join the Big City Transit System based on the agreement from January 1, 2023?' You can vote YES or NO. The full agreement is kept at the town hall if you want to read it.
