§ 16873 Sewage Facility Joint Contracts

Key Takeaways

  • •A public utility district can team up with other government groups or private companies to build or share sewage facilities.
  • •This teamwork must be approved by the district's board if they think it's a good idea for the district.
  • •The shared sewage system can serve the district and other nearby areas mentioned in the agreement.

Example

A small town needs a better sewage system but doesn't have enough money to build one alone.

The town can make a deal with a nearby city or a private company to build and share a sewage system together. This helps both places save money and get better service.
