§ 131302 County Transportation Revenue Coordination

Key Takeaways

  • •County transportation groups must work together when spending money from taxes on things like gas or car sales.
  • •They have to talk to each other before deciding how to use the tax money for roads, buses, or other transportation projects.
  • •The money must be spent on projects already listed in the county’s transportation plan.

Example

A county wants to use tax money from gas sales to fix potholes on a busy road.

Before spending the money, the county must talk to other groups like the city or state to make sure everyone agrees on how the money should be used. They can’t just spend it without checking the county’s transportation plan first.
