§ 125522 Collective Bargaining Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If most workers in a group want a union, the boss must talk with the union.
  • •The boss and the union must try hard to agree on pay, work hours, and other work stuff.
  • •They have to write down what they agree on in a contract.

Example

A group of teachers at a school want a union to help them get better pay.

If more than half the teachers want the union, the school must sit down with the union and try to make a fair deal about pay, work hours, and other things. They have to write it all down in a contract.
