§ 101014 Public Transit System Definition

• •An “existing system” can be a public or private transit service or a utility that operates in the district.
• •It must either run completely inside the district or earn at least 40% of its revenue from vehicle miles run inside the district.
• •Charter‑party carriers and the charter service of a passenger stage corporation are NOT counted as an “existing system.”

A city bus company that runs all its buses inside the city limits.

Because the buses travel only inside the city (or at least 40% of the money they make comes from trips inside the city), the company is considered an “existing system” under this law.
