§ 953 Veteran Remains Interment Liability

This law says groups that handle veterans' ashes must bury them properly. If they do their job right, they can't be sued for mistakes they didn't know about.

Key Takeaways

  • •Groups must bury veterans' ashes the right way.
  • •They won't be punished if they make a mistake they didn't know about.
  • •This only applies if they followed the rules in another law (Section 952).

Example

A group gets a veteran's ashes to bury, but the ashes were given to them by mistake.

If the group didn't know about the mistake and buried the ashes like they were supposed to, they won't get in trouble.
