§ 1178 Wage Board Investigation Triggers

This law says that if workers are paid too little or have bad working conditions, a group called a 'wage board' will look into it and try to fix things.

Key Takeaways

  • •If workers are paid too little or have unsafe/unfair working conditions, the government can step in.
  • •The government must hold at least one public meeting to hear from workers before taking action.
  • •A wage board (a group of people) will then look at the problem and suggest fixes.

Example

Imagine workers at a fast-food restaurant are paid so little they can't afford rent or food.

The government would check if this is true, hold a public meeting to hear from workers, and then ask a wage board to figure out how to make pay or working conditions better.
