§ 80505 Hazardous Material Loan Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •The government won't approve a loan for cleaning up a property if the property's total debt is more than 80% of its value after cleanup.
  • •This rule is for properties with dangerous materials that need to be cleaned up.
  • •The property's value is what it's worth after the cleanup is done.

Example

Imagine you own a gas station that has old underground tanks leaking fuel into the ground. You want to get a loan from the government to clean up the mess.

The government will check how much money you still owe on the property. If you owe more than 80% of what the gas station will be worth after the cleanup, they won't give you the loan.
