§ 5010 Public Works Bidding Requirements

• •If the government wants to build or buy something that costs more than $500, they have to hire the cheapest responsible worker.
• •They do this by asking people to bid (offer their price) and pick the lowest one that can do the job well.
• •If a big government group (like the U.S. Reconstruction Finance Corporation) asks them to hire workers by the day instead of a big contract, they can do that.

The city wants to build a new playground that costs $10,000.

The city has to ask different builders how much they would charge and pick the cheapest one that can do a good job. They can't just pick their friend's company if it's more expensive.
