§ 4889 District Board Dissolution Process

• •If a small area (like a water or trash service area) is right next to a city and the city is already taking care of all its stuff (like pipes or trash trucks), the small area’s leaders can vote to stop being leaders.
• •The vote needs to be a super big yes—at least 4 out of 5 leaders must agree.
• •After they vote yes, the city’s leaders automatically become the leaders of the small area too.
• •This only works if the small area and the city are neighbors and the city is already doing all the work for the small area.

A small water district next to a city has the city managing all its water pipes and bills. The water district’s board doesn’t want to run things anymore.

The water district’s board can vote to quit their jobs if at least 4 out of 5 agree. Then, the city’s leaders take over running the water district.
