§ 34324 Joint Housing Authority Powers

Key Takeaways

  • •Different housing groups can work together to build or fix homes.
  • •They can share money, like borrowing together or using bonds, to pay for housing projects.
  • •One group can let another group act for them, like a helper, to get things done faster.
  • •This is only for housing stuff, like apartments or houses, in the areas where these groups work.

Example

Two nearby towns both need more affordable apartments for families.

Instead of each town trying to build apartments on their own, they can team up. They can share the cost, borrow money together, and even let one town handle the building while the other helps with planning. This way, they can build more apartments faster and cheaper.

For any such purpose, one authority may provide by resolution that another authority with which it has joined or is co-operating in the exercise of powers is authorized to act on its behalf with respect to any or all of the powers, as its agent or otherwise, in its name, the name of such other authority, or in the names of the authorities which have joined or are co-operating.
