§ 17020 Labor Camp Building Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •The state has special rules for places where workers live, like labor camps, and these rules are the same everywhere in California.
  • •Local cities or counties can't make their own rules for these places if the state already has rules.
  • •Old rules from before 1980 are still in place until the state changes or removes them.
  • •Some building rules for worker housing were only temporary and ended by 1985 unless the state updated them.

Example

A farm has a place where workers live during harvest season.

The farm must follow the state's rules for worker housing, like making sure the buildings are safe and clean. The local town can't make different rules for this housing.
