§ 1616 Clinical Laboratory License Fees

Key Takeaways

  • •You have to pay a fee when you apply for or renew a license. The fee covers the cost of running the program but won't be more than that.
  • •The money from these fees goes into a special fund and is used to manage the licensing program.
  • •Your license lasts for 12 months. You need to renew it every year, at least 10 days before it expires, or it will no longer be valid.

Example

You have a license to run a small medical lab. It's about to expire in two weeks.

You need to send in your renewal application and pay the fee at least 10 days before the license expires. If you don't, your license will expire, and you won't be allowed to run the lab anymore until you get a new one.
