§ 13829 District Formation Declaration

Key Takeaways

  • •If most people vote 'yes' in an election, a new fire protection area can be created.
  • •The local government will officially announce the new area, including its name, purpose, and borders.
  • •If the area covers more than one county, the main county must share the official papers with the other counties.

Example

A small town votes to create a new fire protection district to improve fire safety.

If more than half the voters say 'yes,' the town leaders will write it down and make it official. If the area includes land in another county, they’ll send the official papers to that county too.
