§ 4717 District Formation Approval

• •A special area (district) can be created if most people vote 'yes' in the entire area and in each city involved.
• •The local government (board of supervisors) gets to decide if they want to create the district even if the vote passes.
• •The vote must show that more than half of all voters in the whole area and in each city part of the area agree.

Imagine a group of neighborhoods wants to create a special zone for better parks and schools.

If more than half of all voters in the entire area and in each neighborhood vote 'yes,' the local government can then decide to make it official.
