§ 128035 Health Professions Innovation Grants

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can give money to groups that create new and smart ways to teach health workers or do research in health education.
  • •Groups that get extra money from other places (like private companies or other parts of the government) have a better chance of getting this money.
  • •Groups that have a clear and good plan for their project will be picked first.
  • •The government likes groups that can actually make their plan work, not just talk about it.

Example

A local hospital wants to start a new program to train nurses using virtual reality instead of just books.

The hospital can ask the government for money to help pay for this new training program. If the hospital already has some money from a private company and a good plan showing how the virtual reality training will work, they have a better chance of getting the government money.

In determining priority of project applications, the department shall give the highest priority to: (1)  Applicants able to obtain commitments for matching planning funds from other governmental and private sources. (2)  Applicants who develop a preliminary plan that conforms to the criteria stated hereinabove for innovative programs of education in the health sciences. (3)  Applicants that in its judgment are most able to translate a plan into a feasible program. (Amended by Stats. 2021, Ch. 143, Sec. 127. (AB 133) Effective July 27, 2021.)
