§ 119313 Body Art Infection Control

Key Takeaways

  • •Every tattoo or piercing shop must have a written plan to keep things clean and stop infections.
  • •The plan must include how to clean tools, store them safely, and throw away sharp stuff like needles.
  • •The shop must train workers on this plan at least once a year and keep records of the training for 3 years.
  • •If the shop changes how they do things, they must update the plan and train workers again.

Example

A tattoo artist finishes giving someone a tattoo and needs to clean up.

The artist must follow the shop’s plan to clean the tools, throw away the needle safely, and wipe down the chair and table. If they don’t, they could spread germs and make someone sick.
