§ 117615 Local Health Ordinance Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •Local areas can make stricter rules than the state if it helps keep people healthy.
  • •The local rules need approval from the director first.
  • •These stricter rules can only last for a certain amount of time.

Example

A town notices that people are getting sick from dirty water at the local lake.

The town can make a rule that says no swimming in the lake until the water is clean, even if the state says swimming is okay. But they need to get permission first, and the rule won’t last forever.
