§ 116290 Agricultural Water Health Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about water used mostly for farming, not for drinking.
  • •If the water is mostly for farming, the usual water safety rules don’t apply unless the government says they do.
  • •The government can tell farmers to take steps to keep drinking water safe if needed.

Example

A farmer uses water mostly to grow crops but also has a few taps for drinking.

The farmer doesn’t have to follow all the usual water safety rules unless the government says so. If the government thinks the drinking water is unsafe, they can tell the farmer to fix it.
